Website Tools: Your MyRealPage Website and Google Analytics

Google Analytics provides a state-of-the-art web traffic analysis tool which is available for free for anyone to use. As a website owner, it's important for you to know your web traffic patterns, strong and weak places on your website.

It's easy to connect your MyRealPage website to Google Analytics. Watch a brief video below demonstrating how to quickly do that:

Google Analytics provides a wealth of tools and insight into your web traffic. Dedicate some time to learn the basic usage: it will be worth your while!

Website Tools: Your MyRealPage Website and Google Webmaster Tools

So, I have a new website, now what?

I am going to post on what you should consider doing with your new website and include "Website Tools" in the title to allow easy searching.

First, I would recommend that you create a Google Webmaster Tools account.

Watch the video below for a brief visual tutorial.

Google Webmaster Tools is your view into how your website is treated by Google. Google's interface provides valuable insight into how your website is doing in the eyes of Google and provides an opportunity for you to monitor and track issues with your website.

I strongly recommend playing around with Google Webmaster Tools and becoming familiar with them: it's definitely worth the time spent.

How do I distribute my Videos to different Video Websites

Once you have created your video, it can seem daunting to have to upload it manually to all sorts of video websites on which you would like your video to appear. Fear not: there is an easier way. Enter TubeMogul (www.tubemogul.com):

I would strongly recommend this service. It's easy to sign up and you will be able to distribute your videos to over 20 websites, for example:
  • YouTube
  • Yahoo!
  • MySpace
  • MetaCafe
  • Google
  • Revver
  • Viddler
  • Vimeo
  • and more...
Of course, you would need to sign up with each individual website and provide TubeMogul with your username/password.

TubeMogul video distribution process is easy:
1. Click on Upload a Video link and upload your video
2. Click on Launch and Promote a Video to distribute it.

TubeMogul also gives you a variety of tools to monitor and track your videos. They are easy to use and worth the time to learn!

A few tips that you may find useful:
  • In "Launch and Promote a Video" screen, click on "More sites" and make sure you "apply" by filling out a quick form as to why you would like to use these additional sites. The approval process takes a day or two, but you will be able to distribute your video to more well-known websites
  • TubeMogul allows you to save your username/passwords for each video website so you don't have to re-type every time you launch a new video (which can be annoying and boring). I would suggest using this feature, BUT, please create a special username and password for video sites that are different from your commonly used username and passwords (such as for your bank account, or email account, or important online services). Be smart about your security: your usernames and passwords are only as secure as the sites that holds them.

How do I embed a Video in my MyRealPage Blog

It's very easy to embed a Video into your Blog with MyRealPage. First, of course, you need to create a video. Use your favourite camera or camcorder. Once you have the video for the blog, choose one of the many video hosting providers out there. Here are a few you may want to check out:

These websites also offer extensive help resources about how to copy video to your computer and then upload it, etc.

For example, here is a help link from youtube:

Once you have uploaded your video (in many cases, you may need to sign up with the service), then follow these simple steps. The example below uses youtube.com as the video hosting provider, but the procedure will be very similar with all the others:
  • First, locate your video and locate the "embed" code:
  • Next, in your Blog Entry screen, follow these 2 steps:

  • And, voila! your video is now part of your blog:

Hope this helped!

Remember that you can use the same technique to embed a video anywhere on your website. You can also use "Markup Weblet" under "Advanced" section in your weblet list to easily copy and paste the "embed" code. Also, many of these video providers allow you to customize the code to set a different video size, borders, etc.

Experiment!

Welcome to MyRealPage Cookbook Series

Hello, my name is Bill Skrypnyk. I am the Technical Director at myRealPage.com and I have decided to start a "Cookbook" series of "HOW-TO" articles for MyRealPage Websites and Listing solutions for Real Estate.

MyRealPage has developed a very extensive and impressive line of products to service the Real Estate industry, agents and brokers alike. Our websites have been conceived not only as a platform to publish content, but also as valuable tools for web visitors. Our tightly integrated Listing solution allows web visitors to our clients' websites to search Real Estate listings through a variety of interactive, highly usable forms, as well as organize their findings through saved searches and favorites; be notified of market changes in the listings they are looking for, etc. Our Website product automatically provides an opportunity for web visitors to become a member of our clients' websites which, in our opinion, is indispensible in converting an anonymous web visitor to an identifiable "lead".

Our product offerings have grown vastly in the past few years as MyRealPage has invested considerable resources to make a product that is both competitively priced and highly flexible to address the great variety of our clients' needs.

As our products grew, we realized that we need to do a much better job educating our clients and those interested about the exciting and "cool" things you can do with MyRealPage websites and listings. I hope you will come back often to read my "Cookbook Recipies".
